Ear Consultation Only - Infections

Ear Health Consultation with Our Pharmacist:

If you are experiencing ear pain, discharge, itching, blocked ears, reduced hearing, or signs of infection, our trained Pharmacist can provide a professional ear assessment in a private consultation setting.

During your appointment, the Pharmacist will:

- Discuss your symptoms and medical history
- Examine your ears to identify possible causes such as ear infections, wax build-up, or inflammation
- Provide clinical advice and treatment recommendations
- Issue a private prescription if appropriate or advise referral to your GP if needed

The consultation fee is £20, payable at the time of booking.
Prescription medications are NOT included in this price and will be charged separately if required.

This service is ideal for adults who need prompt, convenient ear care without long waiting times. Early assessment can help prevent symptoms from worsening and support faster recovery.

👶 Children’s Ear Infection Assessments (Ages 1–17)

If an assessment is needed for a child aged 1–17, please book via the “Pharmacy First” tab. Ear infection assessments for this age group are covered by the NHS under the Pharmacy First service and are provided free of charge, subject to eligibility.

This service offers a convenient alternative to GP appointments, helping you access timely care and treatment when needed.

🫒 Important Preparation Before Your Appointment
To ensure safe and effective treatment, medical-grade olive oil ear drops MUST be used for 7 days prior to your appointment. These can be purchased from the pharmacy:

Both ears: Use TWO drops, three times a day, unless advised otherwise.
This helps soften the wax and improves the success of the procedure.

Ear Microsuction Removal Service:
Our Ear Microsuction service provides a safe, effective, and comfortable way to remove excess or impacted earwax. The procedure is carried out by a trained healthcare professional using a specialist microscope and gentle suction, with no use of water.

This service is suitable if you are experiencing:
- Blocked or full sensation in the ears
- Reduced hearing
- Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
- Dizziness or discomfort
- Hearing aid issues caused by wax build-up

During your appointment, the clinician will:
- Take a brief medical history
- Perform an ear examination
- Remove earwax using microsuction where appropriate
- Provide aftercare advice

Microsuction is considered the gold standard for earwax removal and is suitable for people where ear syringing may not be recommended.

⚠️ Please note:
- If wax is not adequately softened, the procedure may need to be rescheduled
- This service is available for adults aged 18+ only
- Payment will be taken after the procedure in the pharmacy, depending on whether one or both ears are treated.

If you have previously been prescribed the combined oral contraceptive pill or the progesterone-only pill, our trained pharmacists can provide a further supply following a clinical assessment — without the need for a GP appointment.

We will review your medical history and check your blood pressure and BMI where required to ensure your contraception remains safe and suitable for you. Once approved, you can receive your pill to take away the same day (subject to stock availability).

I visited Meadows Pharmacy as I was staying in the area and needed my Vitamin B12 injection, I sent an email enquiry and Vimal, the pharmacist, responded and let me know it’s a service they can provide, the cost and we made the appointment. Vimal also went the extra mile when a delivery of syringes was delayed and went to the GP surgery next door to source one so that I could get my injection that day. B12 injections are known to be uncomfortable and I was left taken aback at how painless and unnoticeable it was due to Vimal’s extensive experience as a vaccinator. I’ve never once had that experience when getting my injection - and I’ve been getting it for 18 years! If you need any form of vaccination or injection, don’t hesitate to go to Meadows and see Vimal, you’ll be in excellent hands! Thanks Vimal!
